FINALLY!!! 🙃🤟
Hey Gen, the song kicks off with a heavily distorted electric guitar riff, played by John Lennon and George Harrison. This gritty, overdriven sound was achieved by plugging the guitars directly into the recording console and overloading the input, a trick engineered by Geoff Emerick at Abbey Road Studios. At the time, this was unconventional and gave the track an aggressive, rebellious edge that matched its lyrical themes.
great to hear this, never knew how they achieved that incredible sound
"I'm Only Sleeping" -Fantastic song by John Lennon (and the rest of The Beatles of course)
I just found you, Gen. I'll be tuning in. "Revolution" one of my all time favorite Beatles songs and performances.
The thing that made Lennon and McCartney so amazing for me is the way their music changed as they grew as composers. They created a bunch of different sounding songs that were revolutionary (if you'll pardon the pun) for the time, while still being recognisably Beatles. FWIW, this was the first record I ever bought with my own pocket money as a newly minted teen. The folks got so sick of me playing it (and Hey Jude) over and over that they splashed out for a pair of headphones even though it wasn't my birthday.
i've yet to see any reactor listen to the studio versions of this song or "hey jude." we didn't fall in love with the beatles through their videos. the videos were VERY RARE back when they were released. we fell in love with the beatles' MUSIC - their studio recordings. which are often differnt, although slightly, than these videos. for instance, there's 3 versions of this song. there's the original "fast" version which was released as the b-side to the "hey jude" single. there's a slower version on the white album called "revolution 1." it adds "shooby-do-wops" paroding a style of 50s music. the third version is this video. its fast, like the single, but with the "shooby-do-wops" added. although i like all 3 versions very much the studio, single version is still the best. and no one listens to it because you're all obsessed with music videos rather than music. thanks for the video.
Something is my favourite too, I rdcommend And I love her, it’s a beautiful song and it’s closer to what you have in mind, similar vibe, but with a bit of a Spanish twist.
On a side note, can we talk about their outfits?? Love ‘60s fashion, BRING IT BACK
This is great stuff, it’s 1950’s style rock & roll reinterpreted with a late 60’s hard rock sound.
The Beatles is definitely a rabbit hole you need to jump down, (apologies to Alice in Wonderland). And in my humble opinion, their album 'Sargent Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' changed the course of music. Released in 1967, it literally stopped the music world. Even classical music was affected. Their output over just 7 years was phenomenal. Their last 2 albums; Abbey Road and Let It Be, were literally written on the hop in a recording studio over a couple of weeks. There is a documentary made from hours of filming of these recordings. It is mind blowing watching these 4 musicians creating incredible music on the spot out of thin air. Genius like this only happens once or twice a century.
I agree, but I would add that every Beatles album contained at least one track that showed their music was evolving, expanding into different themes & areas that made you excited about where they were going next. Their growth was exponential, so by the time they got to SPLHCB their inventive ability was amazing. I don't believe we'll ever see anything quite like it again.
"but when you talk about destruction, don't you know that you can count me OUT ……… IN" - John Lennon
There is no Beatles sound, and yet there is
They crossed so many genres
Beatles Rock
I'm not sure what version this is but there are two versions on the "White Album". those are the ones that you need to listen to. My favorite is the second slow version.
Good to see you back! Your reaction videos are great, especially the ones on The Beatles. It may seem weird now but in the 60s we bought 7-inch singles which had two songs - one on each side. The A side was the one the artists and record companies promoted and aimed at the charts while the B sides were often lacklustre and usually disappeared without trace. That wasn't the case with The Beatles. The Lennon-McCartney songwriting partnership was so prolific that the B sides from their earliest records were better than most of the songs that artists put out as possible hits. In fact, they were so good that in the US both sides of a Beatles' disc would chart. 'Revolution' was the B side and 'Hey Jude' the A side and as they were The Beatles both were played a lot by radio stations. The Hey Jude/Revolution single was released in 1968 when protests against the Vietnam war were being held in many countries, including Britain. The anti-war demonstrations would later inspire Lennon to write Give Peace A Chance which he recorded in a hotel room during a peace bed-in while on his honeymoon with Yoko Ono
Flip side of the 1968 single Hey Jude that got into the top ten also.
Hello! I enjoy your Beatles reactions. Yeah, some songs are bangers and some might not hit the same way. This is one of my favorites. Very socially relevant! Yes, a song-by-song reaction to Abbey Road would be awesome--a note for you, however, the second half of that album, from "Because" to "Her Majesty" is an 18 minute medley, best heard all at once rather than one song at a time.
PS--if you'd like a "fly on the wall" perspective of what it was like being in the studio with The Beatles as they were writing, rehearsing and recording, I recommend watching the three part documentary, "Get Back", on Disney+! I think you'll be satisfied (each episode is about 2 and a half hours long).
"All right!"
The revolution takes hard work; Hence the grunting. Abbey Road side two all at one sitting because the songs were crafted to be listened to that way.
Heavy duty hard core meaty rock with a rebellious message from a band that traditionally dabbled more in art and culture than in political action. It's a great tune and it holds a special place in their body of work. Of course, this one is John's.
Esses caras revolucionaram a música talentos nato parabéns por reagir a eles boa escolha
I’d definitely watch if you decide to react to full Beatles albums. Revolver or Rubber Soul might be a good start.
❤🇮🇹🔥💣
Many young people think that this was done in the 80s even if they don't know that's not possible.
I guess their school failed them. Lennon was assassinated in 1980.
The Long And Winding Road you'll love with strings and choir, sumtuouse . I think that's how you spell it lol . Not the naked version though
Have you watched "Get Back" on Disney streaming? Amazing. Yous see and hear the magic form.
They made another version of this song with a totally different vibe...if the vibe was what you didn't like about this one.
The studio version is better. Also part of its appeal was its timely political commentary.
Hey Pretty Lady. Octopus’s Garden SUCKS!!!! lol. You’re looking prettier and prettier every time I look at you. 🤗
Thank you !
There are 3 versions to this well really 2 this is the sped up version most people know and like the other is a slower bluesy version that I like better and a third that makes no sense just John and Yoko playing with tape machines loops and other noises. This video is the only I got to see what they looked like when I was 6
Try a day in the life
The recording engineer wanted to remove the distortion, but the Beatles instructed him to leave it in.
You might want to hear a bit more from their first 3 albums. It seems like you've mostly heard their late and middle periods. It seems strange to do a lot of late Beatles without having much exposure to the first couple of years of their career. All of their early work was straight rock.
