Metal Vocalist Reaction - Falling In Reverse - "Last Resort (Reimagined)"

Ronnie put out a video of him playing the song for Jacoby Shaddix for the first time and seeing both his and Ronnie’s reactions was priceless!

I remember the first time I heard this the day it came out. My mouth was open in disbelief and I cried. I cried because it's so beautiful and I cried because like you said, it felt like someone was standing on my chest. The emotion he put into this is insane and it hit so hard.

Ronnie is really a genius and his voice is so good. Being able to scream- sing like that and stay where you need to be without losing control.

That’s my favorite part at the end when he literally belted that “I’m running and I’m crying” and that scream almost sounded like run on r growls or something its WILDDD

I don't know why I thought you'd already seen this one. Loved seeing your emotional rollercoaster through this. It definitely hits differently. It's heavy and deep, but when everything starts building back up it always gives me a feeling of hope. Love the dynamics he used in this. As always, great reaction! Thanks for sharing. 🙂

Papa Roach's version was unadulterated rage.
Ronnie's version feels to me like what happens when the rage burns out and nothing has gotten any better and what's left is just the raw pain.
He conveys that pain SO WELL with his voice. Not gonna lie, Ronnie's version makes me freaking bawl my eyes out every single time I hear it.
He's SO good at what he does. The man is a master at his craft and I cannot get enough of it. LOL.

Ronnie’s cover of Last Resort really means a lot to me. It’s so validating, therapeutic, and cathartic to hear and see a representation of the constant internal struggle that I’ve had my entire life; battling CPTSD, Bipolar Disorder, and BPD. It’s so difficult to explain to people that you are frozen in time and no matter how good things get around you; you’re stuck in the past; you’re stuck in your trauma and sometimes people can’t just get over it or move on. It stays with them and haunts them. I’ve lost so much being frozen in time. The world keeps moving while you’re standing still and everyone expects you to just catch up; and you feel like a failure for not being able to function day-to-day as easily as most people. Living constantly ready; constantly preparing to be attacked or have to fight to survive takes a terrible toll on a person and that feeling of helplessness, desperation, despair, and exhaustion just makes you feel like checking out early, ripping off the bandaid, ending your suffering, and sparing everyone around you from being overwhelmed by your presence.

he also did reimagined versions of 2 of his songs ... there's The Drug in Me is Reimagined and I'm Not a Vampire Revamped. Highly recommended and it really shows his growth from when he did the originals to when he reimagined them 10 years later.

I found this, & I was suprised how much I liked it... its a heavy subject, but I like the composition with his voice. Its opened my eyes, to not be dismissive about appearances, and open my ears too. I'm 62, & enjoying discovering music like this.

Hard to imagine that some people perceived the original as some dancy banger, Ronnie made you feel every word !
And yeah your throat gets sore just listening to some of those notes 🎶 😅

This is right up there with Johnny Cash’s version of hurt for the feelings it pulls from you.

This song tears me up no matter how many times I've heard it 🥺 growing up with the PR version (which I love), is so night and day compared to Ronnies version. He really emphasized the message and emotion behind the lyrics with his amazing vocals!! Your reaction was exactly how i felt when i first heard it...speechless in the best way.

This is a masterpiece. I love the original, but both transmit different emotions, for me at least. Papa Roach's original gives me an angry vibe. Ronnie's version sends me a desperate feeling which matches the song's message perfectly. I cried when I first watched it. When I was a kid listening to the this song, I didn't know English so I was just vibing that rock song. Now, understanding the lyrics, the piano and string, Ronnie's singing, everything together makes so much sense.

I’ve listened to last resort through my youth but I think it’s wasn’t until this cover that I actually understood the lyrics. It’s truly haunting

For many, many, many watches/listens of this song, I couldn’t make it through without crying. Especially at that ending when he’s *screaming*. Just… damn. I keep wanting to do my own reaction to it, or I guess not a reaction at this point, just talk about it, but I’m a noob. 😆 Maybe someday.

There is still technique in the scream, trust me. You do that 5 nights in a row without technique & you're getting nodules on your larynx. There's a couple of ways I can get there & it depends what I'm doing first as to what I do. I either take my voice to it's natural breaking place & run with that or I'll start off with a false cords growl but pull my face back with my tongue & that does the job as well. All the crazy resonance is safely away from the precious lil vocal chords. This was my introduction to falling in reverse & it's still one of my fave covers of anything by anyone

Man for all the shit he cops on the daily .. the guy is a good guy underneath all the hate he receives. You hear it all in this song - it’s so relatable. Someone said papa roaches song was the younger version of our selves full of anger and chaos and Ronnie’s version is our adult selves amongst all the struggles and depression of now understanding completely what the lyrics mean. Something along those lines..

Their last album was consider one of the best of 2024 by many (me included).
Progressive metal from Australia with groovy riffs and two amazing singers. I suggest you go for "Step Right Up!" from that 2024 album called "ELI: A Wonderful Fall From Grace", a concept album (3rd and last part of a trilogy). Or you could try something from my favorite album, Flight Of The Wounded, from 2022 (I think). "The Thieves Are Out" and "Battle" are two great songs.
This band is embarrassingly underrated. Or, no, amongst us who knows about them they're not. We all know they're geniouses. But more people should be made aware of they're existens. They deserve it!
Great bunch of guys as well. Really engaging with their fans on social media. So please to me and Teramaze a huge favor and help spread their music!
P.S. You should hurry up a bit as they will release a new album in April (their 7th studio album since 2019)
